QUICK TIP: CHANGING A TYRE AND TUBE

Changing a tyre/tube is one of the most important skills to have as a cyclist, despite your ability level. You should always carry a toolset, spare tube, and tyre levers with you via a jersey pocket and/or saddle bag, in case you sustain a puncture.

Use your tyre levers to lever the bead of the tyre over the rim sidewall. This will allow easy removal of the tube. Before replacing the tube, feel around the inside of the tyre for anything that may have caused the puncture. Place a new tube that has limited inflation into the tyre. Use the tyre levers to lever the tyre bead back over the rim being careful not to pinch the tube between the rim and tyre bead.
